AYURVEDA

Ayurveda is an ancient healing tradition that evolved in India around 600 B.C it seeks to achieve an optimum balance between body, mind specific needs and cares. It values the natural health and fitness of the human body.

What does “Ayurveda” mean?
The word Ayurveda is made up of two Sanskrit words “ayur” meaning life and “veda” meaning knowledge, that is “knowledge of life”. The emphasis is on refreshing oneself, eliminating all toxic imbalances in the body, boosting immunity, proving protection from stress and strain, fighting fatigue, pacifying and relaxing the mind.

AROMATHERAPHY

Ancient Indians recognized the physical and spiritual properties of aromatic essences. From the ancient religious books, “The Vedas”, we know that aromatic preparations were used as offerings to gods. Further, the natural antiseptic and antibacterial properties of essential oils and resins were used for healing purposes.

What are essential oils?
As long ago as the 2nd century AD, alchemists were extracting perfumes from plants in a process known as “quintessence”. Essential oils, as we know and use today, have their origins in this ancient method of distilling natural oils from flowers, leaves, barks and roots. Essential oil is the fragrance that we perceive when we smell a perfumed flower or press a scented leaf or stem. These magical substances are the life force of the plant.

How do they work?
Essential oils are composed of tiny molecules that are absorbed through the skin when used in a bath or massage and carried by body fluids to the main body systems, such as the nervous and muscular system, and promote a healing effect. The scent of essential oils is conveyed by the olfactory nerve to areas of the brain that can influence emotions and hormonal response.
